Here’s the good news: more than 3 trillion trees live happily around the world. Are you ready for the bad news?
More than 15 billion trees die each year. Are you ready for worse news? We kill them.
People are cutting down trees left and right and planting concrete jungles in their place. The problem is, concrete jungles don’t soak up carbon dioxide like natural jungles. If carbon dioxide is free to float around the atmosphere, it will continue to turn our planet into a giant gas oven. And yes, we’re the roast.
So what do we do? Well, you’ve started at the right place.
Tip 1: Eat your veggies
That’s right, all you have to do to save the planet is sit down and stuff your face. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? Every year, forests that double the size of Belgium are being cut down and converted to farmland. And the one of the main uses for farmland is to feed the meat we eat. In Brazil, 70% of deforested land is used to feed livestock. Environmental protection is one of the main reasons the vegetarianism trend is on the rise. We know it might be hard to quit cold turkey (literally), so all we’re saying is take the baby step. Eat your greens.
Tip 2: Go paperless or recycle
Not all deforestation is due to construction. We use almost 85 million tons of paper per year...in America alone! Every week, 500,000 are cut down to make Sunday newspapers. But, we could save 250,000,000 trees each year. How? Just by recycling your newspapers!
Tip 3: Plant Trees (including a tree for each purchase of Arune Products) !
It starts with us. Every year Americans plant around 1.6 billion trees. Humanity won't stop cutting down trees. We can try to decrease the number, but it will never be zero. But we can plant more trees to help balance the scale. You personally can plant trees, or you can support an organization that helps plant trees. We’ve teamed up with partners like American Forests and Trees for Change to help plant trees, create jobs, and build communities. Furthermore, for every physical product we sell, Arune Labs helps plant a tree. The more purchases, the more REforestation!
Three easy tips. All actions that you can take from the very comfort of your home--maybe even your couch! One of the biggest misconceptions about environmental protection is that you need to go out and physically plant a tree yourself. But there are so many other ways you can help protect our planet. For right now, it’s the only one we’ve got!
